Painless 15-minute trial for bladder & bowel leakage — Reno Continence Center.
The Continence Center

Bladder and bowel leakage: a painless 15-minute trial, no general anesthesia, before any implant.

If pads, pills, or pelvic floor therapy have not given you your days and nights back, you do not have to jump to an implant. At The Continence Center in Reno we start with a painless 15-minute trial. There is no general anesthesia. We talk about a lasting sacral neuromodulation (SNM) implant only if the trial helps.

90%+ improve; our multicenter work is stronger at two years. Medicare and other payors cover this.

Who this is for

This evaluation is for adults with:

  • Overactive bladder (OAB) — sudden urgency, frequent voids, night waking
  • Urge leakage of urine after pads, medication, or pelvic floor physical therapy have not been enough
  • Fecal incontinence — bowel accidents or staining that is changing how you live

You do not need to know a device name to come in. If leakage is running your schedule, travel, sleep, or skin, it is reasonable to be evaluated.

Pads aren’t the plan

Pads protect clothing and skin. They do not treat the nerve signaling that makes the bladder or bowel fire at the wrong time. Medication helps some people and bothers others. Pelvic floor therapy is the right first step for many. When those steps have been tried — or you cannot take the pills — the next question is not a thicker pad. It is whether a trial of sacral neuromodulation is appropriate.

A painless 15-minute trial — no general anesthesia

The trial is a short procedure: about 15 minutes, painless, with no general anesthesia. It is not an office trial and it is not an implant on day one. You go home with a temporary test of sacral neuromodulation so you and we can see whether symptoms actually improve.

Implant only if the trial helps. If the trial does not help, we do not proceed to a lasting system. If it does, we discuss next steps in clinic.

Medicare and other payors cover this.

Overactive bladder vs fecal incontinence

OAB and fecal incontinence are different symptoms. They share a common evaluation path here: history, simple testing when indicated, and a decision about whether an SNM trial is the right next step.

  • OAB / urge leakage: urgency, frequency, night waking, urine leaks that you cannot hold.
  • Fecal incontinence: bowel accidents, urgency to stool, or staining that pads and diet have not solved.

Some people have both. You do not have to sort the label before you call. We sort it in clinic.

What evaluation looks like

You are seen at The Continence Center, 5500 Reno Corporate Drive, Suite 100, Reno. We review what you have already tried, check for problems that need a different workup, and explain the 15-minute trial in plain language — including that there is no general anesthesia and that implant is only if the trial helps.

Bring a short log if you have one (times, leaks, pads). It is useful, not required.

Watch: what the trial is, and what to expect

Two short videos from Dr. Kent Sasse. They stay unlisted; they are here so you can see the visit before you book. No autoplay.
